03 Nov Egg Weights
In a princely purple bag embellished with a gold thread is a pair of egg weights. As black as charcoal, the egg weights are the size of my open palm and the weight of a pound. The silhouette of the egg weight mimics the egg shaker maraca. However, instead of training the rhythms of music, egg weights train muscles.
Egg weights are handheld free weights. While utilizing the weights, one can strengthen muscles to cardio and other hand free workouts. With a variety of exercises from running, yoga, and shadow boxing, egg weights add a layer of training to your workout routine. Also, as the weight does not exceed the length of your hand, it does not constrict natural motion. To use, simply slip your middle finger through the ring and curve your fingers around the egg to grip. Unlike other free hand weights, egg weights are easy to grasp and the ring grip prevents injury from dropping the weights.
I love shadowboxing with egg weights. It simultaneously trains my muscles through resistance and strengthening. As the weights are the same weight of 16 oz gloves, the illusion of sparring with a shadowy opponent is optimized. I can practice all my punches and footwork with full natural mobility without fear of dropping the weights. As a bonus, the egg weight is easy to carry for traveling. I have often found myself in the gym of a hotel or cruise ship practicing my boxing in the corner by a mirror. I would highly suggest these freehand weights as necessities for training.
